Good LASIK Candidates Typically Have:
- Stable vision prescription for at least one year
- Healthy eyes with no serious conditions
- Realistic expectations about the procedure
- Age 18 or older
- Corneal thickness within acceptable range
- No active eye infections or inflammation
- Not pregnant or nursing
Prescription Guidelines for LASIK
- Nearsightedness (Myopia): Up to -12.00 diopters
- Farsightedness (Hyperopia): Up to +6.00 diopters
- Astigmatism: Up to 6.00 diopters
- Combined prescriptions may have different limits
- Age-related vision changes (presbyopia) may require different approaches
- Custom LASIK can treat higher prescriptions in some cases
